Friction between Carbon Nanotubes and Si Substrates

A classical MD simulation of an atomically smooth Si substrate (pink/yellow atoms) sliding rapidly, at 500 m/s (0.1 angstroms every 20 fs), against an array of pristine carbon nanotubes (grey/black atoms) is shown. Heat created by friction eventually disintegrates system. Run repeats showing side, top and bottom views. System configuration file: www.njolee.net Simulation script file: www.njolee.net
